Quick Overview

Mulgore became a tauren refuge after Cairne Bloodhoof allied with Thrall against the dangers confronting his people. Thunder Bluff rises above the grasslands, while Camp Narache and Bloodhoof Village preserve tauren hunting and spiritual traditions. Grimtotem politics, quilboar threats, and foreign resource seekers complicate the new security.

Full History

Mulgore's grasslands became the tauren's secure refuge only after a long season of wandering and danger. The Bloodhoof people, led by Cairne Bloodhoof, had been harried by centaur forces and struggled to protect their families as they traveled the plains of central Kalimdor. During the Third War, Cairne met Thrall and his orcs; their alliance offered the tauren the military strength and friendship needed to reach a defensible homeland. This partnership helped shape the New Horde and brought the tauren into its councils, but their beliefs and traditions remained their own. They revered the Earth Mother, honored the spirits of their ancestors, and maintained a strong connection with the natural world.

Above the plain rise the towering mesas of Thunder Bluff. From those heights Cairne established a capital where tauren tribes could gather, trade, and build a future beyond constant flight from the centaur. Below, Bloodhoof Village and Camp Narache teach younger tauren to hunt, serve their communities, and understand the animals of the open country. The Brambleblade quilboar and other hostile groups press against the margins, while the Venture Company and Bael'dun archaeological activity show outside peoples treating the land as a source of resources or discoveries. The presence of Bronzebeard excavators should be described as part of a distinct dwarven search for origins rather than evidence of any later titan revelations.

Mulgore also contains political and spiritual differences. Hamuul Runetotem represents the tauren development of druidic study and its connections with the Cenarion Circle. The Grimtotem remain an important tauren faction, and Magatha Grimtotem's influence is not the same as Cairne's policy of cooperation. Those disagreements should not be resolved by assuming later leadership changes. The region's rivers, mesas, and sacred sites preserve the meeting of a mobile pastoral people with a new settled center. At the original world's opening Mulgore remains hopeful but vulnerable, with new defenses, old enemies, and leaders who do not all imagine the tauren's future in the same way.
