Full History
Brambleblade Ravine became one of the first dangers the tauren had to confront after finding a measure of safety in Mulgore. The Bristleback quilboar pressed into the territory around Red Cloud Mesa, attacking hunting parties and stealing from Camp Narache after dark. For a people who had only recently escaped the constant pressure of the centaur, another enemy threatening their new homes could not be dismissed as a minor nuisance.
Chief Hawkwind and Seer Graytongue made the danger part of the young braves' education. During the Rite of Strength, a tauren had to show courage against the Bristlebacks, demonstrating a willingness to protect the tribe rather than merely seeking the glory of battle. The rite taught that strength gained meaning when directed toward people who could not safely defend themselves alone.
The ravine's struggle belonged to a larger turning point. Cairne Bloodhoof had brought scattered tauren into Mulgore and helped found Thunder Bluff, but no alliance could end every border dispute. Brambleblade Ravine was a reminder that a homeland was maintained through daily vigilance as well as historic victories. The young tauren tested there entered adulthood in the shadow of responsibilities their elders had borne for generations.
