Full History
Red Cloud Mesa belongs to the period after Cairne Bloodhoof secured a place for the tauren in Mulgore. Before that change, the tribes had moved under repeated attack from centaur raiders, rarely able to depend upon a lasting refuge. Thrall's arrival in Kalimdor helped Cairne gain allies strong enough to defend the homeland his people needed.
Once Thunder Bluff and the surrounding settlements began to gather the scattered tribes, young tauren could grow within a more stable community. The traditions of the Earth Mother, respect for ancestors, and training in the duties of hunters and warriors acquired a new setting: a land their elders hoped they would not have to abandon.
That security remained hard won. The quilboar and other hostile neighbors threatened the edges of Mulgore, and the old memory of centaur attacks could not be erased by settling one valley. Red Cloud Mesa's significance grew from this change in tauren fortunes. A people once compelled to flee were now able to raise another generation with the expectation that a homeland might endure.
