History with a traceable foundation.
Every ruin, kingdom and character has a place in Azeroth's history. We tell those stories as readable accounts, while preserving where the information came from.
Historical scope
The main narrative follows Warcraft I, Warcraft II, Warcraft III, The Frozen Throne and the original-era world of Warcraft: Forever. We distinguish what existed in the initial game era from quests, zones and features introduced in later patches.
Later official sources can reveal genuine events from Azeroth's ancient past. When such material enriches an original-era subject, it appears separately after the main account under Ancient history revealed later. Later expansion-era playable storylines are not presented as part of the original world.
A connected historical library
The Living Archive makes project-maintained historical records accessible through five ways of exploring. Each article offers a concise introduction and a Full History; named people and places may link directly to related entries.
We preserve stable IDs, source provenance, continuity-era distinctions and original-text history as we revise the narrative. Source metadata helps maintain accuracy, but does not require readers to navigate editorial approval processes. The earlier two-record release archive remains available for reference.
The current searchable edition is v3.20. Automated game-client triggers are a separate feature and require appropriate runtime evidence; the website does not assert that every record has a verified quest or NPC binding.
Storytelling without invented certainty
Unknown dates, conflicting accounts and gaps in surviving material remain identifiable. We do not add fabricated dialogue, characters or causes to make a story longer. Artwork is matched to the subject and identified by source era where possible.
Further-reading suggestions are browsing leads, not automatically verified primary-source citations. Concrete errors are corrected in the relevant records while other histories remain available.
