Full History
The rescue of Baine Bloodhoof strengthened an alliance already taking shape between Cairne's tauren and Thrall's Horde. Rexxar and his companions assisted Cairne during the threats surrounding the new settlements in Kalimdor. The episode showed that the bond between orcs and tauren could be tested through action, not only words.
The tauren had suffered under persistent centaur attacks and needed space in which to build secure homes. Thrall's people had helped Cairne earlier while traveling through the Barrens, giving both groups reason to trust one another. The threat to Baine brought that cooperation down to the level of a leader's family. Rexxar's involvement joined a personal rescue to a broader political alliance.
The continued friendship made it possible for Cairne's people to stand beside the Horde as it established Durotar and Orgrimmar. It did not erase every tribal disagreement or remove dangers from Mulgore. Instead, the rescue belongs to the series of events by which the tauren found reliable allies and the Horde became a coalition rather than an exclusively orcish army.
