Full History
Thrall encountered Cairne Bloodhoof and helped tauren families move through the Barrens while centaur attacked them. The assistance began a lasting alliance between the orcs seeking a new homeland and a people desperate for safety from mounted enemies. The meeting revealed that Kalimdor already held conflicts the newcomers could not ignore.
The tauren had long lived in scattered communities under pressure from centaur raiders. Their size and strength were formidable, yet the constant attacks threatened the movement of their people and the survival of their settlements. Thrall's Horde had come west after Medivh's warning and possessed soldiers able to help defend vulnerable travelers. Cairne recognized the value of that cooperation, while Thrall found an ally whose experience of the land was invaluable.
The alliance grew through further dangers and ultimately helped the tauren secure Mulgore. Cairne would take his people to Thunder Bluff and stand with the Horde at important moments of its founding. The early assistance in the Barrens is significant because it established trust before there was a capital, a formal political arrangement, or any certainty that the newcomers could remain on Kalimdor.
