Full History
The Dragonmaw clan gained terrifying power during the Second War through the captivity of Alexstrasza. Led by Zuluhed the Whacked, the clan seized control of the red dragon queen and used the Demon Soul to force her obedience. Grim Batol became the center of that operation, transforming a former Wildhammer stronghold into a prison for one of Azeroth's greatest guardians.
The imprisoned queen was compelled to produce young dragons that could be trained and forced into battle for the Horde. Red dragon riders gave the orcish armies power in the air that ordinary soldiers could scarcely answer. Yet the clan's hold depended on an artifact that bound not only a captive ruler but the fate of her children.
Rhonin and his allies eventually broke the enchantment and freed Alexstrasza, ending the Dragonmaw's greatest advantage. The fall of that power revealed what the clan had built its reputation upon: the enslavement of a being entrusted with protecting life. Grim Batol's history became darker because the Dragonmaw had turned one of the ancient dragonflights into a weapon of war.
