Quick Overview
Theramore was founded by the human refugees Jaina Proudmoore led across the sea as Lordaeron fell to the Scourge. After the alliance against the Burning Legion at Mount Hyjal, they made a new home on Kalimdor's eastern coast. Its future was nearly destroyed when Jaina's father, Admiral Daelin Proudmoore, used the settlement as the base for a campaign against Thrall's Horde. Jaina refused to support his war, leaving Theramore to survive with the memory of a painful division.
Full History
The fall of Lordaeron drove thousands from lands that had once seemed secure. Jaina Proudmoore listened to Medivh's warning and led survivors west across the Great Sea. On Kalimdor they faced unfamiliar peoples and dangers, but the threat of the Burning Legion eventually brought their expedition into an uneasy alliance with Thrall's orcs and the night elves. The joint defense of Mount Hyjal gave the refugees a chance to build rather than flee again.
Jaina established Theramore on an island off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh. It became a new human center far from the ruined northern kingdoms. A settlement born of exile, however, could not escape the rivalries that had survived the wars of the Eastern Kingdoms. Suspicion between Theramore's humans and the nearby Horde threatened the fragile understanding Jaina had reached with Thrall.
Admiral Daelin Proudmoore arrived from Kul Tiras determined to destroy the orcs. He had spent his life fighting the Horde and refused to believe that Thrall's people could become anything different from their predecessors. He seized control of Theramore and made it a fortress for renewed war. Jaina could not persuade him to abandon his campaign. She chose not to help his attack, even though she knew the consequences for her father.
Rexxar and the Horde defeated Daelin's forces and the admiral was killed. Jaina grieved, and Theramore remained caught between old loyalties and the possibility of coexistence. The settlement's history was shaped not just by its founding but by the hard decision not to let an older war destroy the fragile peace that followed Hyjal.
