Full History
Rexxar, a wanderer of mixed orc and ogre heritage, entered Thrall's service as the Horde struggled to establish its new homeland. His work among the Barrens and Durotar helped connect the fledgling settlement to allies and exposed threats that might otherwise have overwhelmed it. Through his travels, the founding of the Horde became more than the construction of a city.
Thrall had brought his people west to escape both the internment camps and the old Legion-bound history of the Horde. In Kalimdor, they had joined with tauren and Darkspear trolls while facing a harsh land and enemies left by earlier conflicts. Rexxar proved useful because he could move among settlements, meet leaders, and resolve dangers beyond the reach of a single garrison. Rokhan and other companions shared parts of that campaign.
The Beastmaster's story soon became entangled with a crisis involving Jaina and Admiral Daelin Proudmoore. His defense of the Horde contributed to the survival of the new settlement without erasing the differences between the orcs and Theramore. The campaign belongs to the founding of Durotar and Orgrimmar, explaining how alliances survived their first serious tests after Mount Hyjal.
