Quick Overview
Jaina Proudmoore guided human refugees west to Kalimdor as Lordaeron fell to plague and the Scourge. The survivors sought safety far from their ruined homeland and eventually established Theramore. Jaina's leadership brought humans into the alliance that stopped Archimonde at Mount Hyjal and later into a fragile peace with Thrall's Horde.
Full History
Jaina Proudmoore had studied magic in Dalaran and witnessed the spread of the undead plague in Lordaeron. Her efforts alongside Prince Arthas to understand the crisis ended in horror as the prince ordered the culling of Stratholme. The kingdom she had known was collapsing, and continued resistance in the same lands offered diminishing hope. Medivh's warning urged the people of Azeroth to look west toward Kalimdor, where the struggle against the Burning Legion would eventually be decided.
Jaina led survivors across the Great Sea, carrying them away from the catastrophe consuming their homes. The voyage turned her from a scholar and diplomat into the leader of a displaced human community. On Kalimdor the refugees encountered new lands and peoples, including Thrall's orcs and the night elves. The history of the First and Second Wars made trust difficult, but the Legion's advance demanded cooperation across those divisions.
At Mount Hyjal, Jaina's forces joined Thrall's Horde and the night elves in the defense against Archimonde. The combined stand did not remove the old enmities among the peoples, but it proved that they could fight together when Azeroth itself was threatened. After the Legion's defeat, Jaina's followers developed their settlement at Theramore, seeking an enduring place from which to rebuild their lives.
The new peace remained fragile. Jaina's father, Lord Admiral Daelin Proudmoore, later arrived with Kul Tiran forces and attempted to renew war against the Horde. Jaina refused to support his campaign, a choice that cost her dearly but preserved the possibility of cooperation with Thrall. Her westward migration is therefore tied both to the salvation of refugees and to the political effort to prevent the wars of the past from consuming the new settlements of Kalimdor.
