Full History
Shadow Council is a organization associated with the original-era historical setting.
Gul’dan establishes the Shadow Council: Warlocks guide the Horde and manipulate Blackhand as their figurehead warchief. Gul’dan and his hidden Shadow Council support Blackhand as a visible military leader while retaining influence over the Horde. Garona's Shadow Council chronicle recounts a first reconnaissance through the rift, originally numbering seven warriors; their scouting reveals human farmland. Gul’dan’s memoir describes Doomhammer’s attack on his warlock stronghold and elimination of most of the council. Gul’dan uses fallen human knight remains, Shadow Council spirits, and necromantic energies to create undead riders.
The orcs are turned from independent clans into an instrument of the Burning Legion. Blackhand becomes warchief; the blood oath and Shadow Council consolidate control. Doomhammer attacks the Shadow Council and compels Gul’dan to serve, while Gul’dan retains his ambitions. Some motive claims come from Gul’dan’s own account; later eligible sources may conflict.
