Sorcerer-Thane Thaurissan refused to accept Dark Iron defeat after the struggle for Ironforge. From his southern stronghold, he and Modgud launched war against the Bronzebeards and Wildhammers. When their armies failed, Thaurissan reached for powers that no mortal ruler could control. His summoning brought Ragnaros into the world, destroying him and leaving the Dark Iron people in the Firelord's grasp.
