Full History
Shadowforge City emerged from the ruin of the Dark Iron kingdom. The clan had once held a capital in the Redridge Mountains, founded by Sorcerer-Thane Thaurissan after his exile from Ironforge. His attempt to destroy the rival dwarf clans ended in catastrophe when his summoning drew Ragnaros into Azeroth and remade the surrounding land.
The Firelord's arrival raised Blackrock Mountain and placed the surviving Dark Irons under an elemental power far beyond their own sorcery. Beneath that mountain, they established a new stronghold. Shadowforge City became the heart of their continued existence, but the conditions of that survival were unlike the independence Thaurissan had sought.
The city therefore carried the legacy of two defeats: the loss of Ironforge and the disaster brought upon the clan by its own ruler. The Dark Irons remained skilled miners, smiths, and sorcerers, yet their industry served a realm overshadowed by Ragnaros. Shadowforge was a capital forged by endurance, resentment, and bondage, not simply the replacement for the city Thaurissan had lost.
