Full History

Light's Hope Chapel became a refuge for those who would not surrender the Eastern Plaguelands to the Scourge. When Arthas's betrayal brought Lordaeron down, the paladins of the Silver Hand lost the protection of the kingdom they had served. Survivors gathered wherever the Light still offered more than memory, trying to defend the living among villages emptied by plague and undead armies.

The Argent Dawn arose from that devastation, rejecting the Scarlet Crusade's growing hatred of outsiders while maintaining the struggle against the undead. The chapel became associated with a resistance that sought allies rather than new enemies. Its defenders worked amid ruined roads and farms where each journey risked an encounter with the Scourge and each rescued survivor mattered.

The chapel's importance came from the fall of institutions that had once made ordinary worship safe. A sanctuary in the Plaguelands could no longer rely on a king's protection, a nearby garrison or the order of village life. Those who held it had to defend one another and the idea that Lordaeron might yet have a future beyond death and persecution.
