Full History
Light's Hope Chapel carried the older traditions of the Church of the Holy Light into a kingdom that had nearly ceased to exist. As the Scourge spread through Lordaeron, its sanctuaries became places where survivors could remember the faith and duties that had once held their communities together. The eastern lands were especially hard hit, leaving defenders to face the undead amid shattered settlements.
The Argent Dawn made the chapel an important center of its resistance. Unlike the Scarlet Crusade, whose distrust of outsiders became a governing principle, the Dawn accepted help from those willing to oppose the Scourge regardless of their people's allegiance. Lord Maxwell Tyrosus and others pursued a war in which the defense of the living mattered as much as the defeat of the dead.
The chapel's significance came from that choice. Its guardians could not return Lordaeron to the days before the plague, but they could preserve a place where courage and common purpose had not been consumed by fear. Light's Hope became a promise that the kingdom's surviving people need not abandon every virtue for which they had once fought.
