Light's Hope Chapel gave the Argent Dawn an enduring point of resistance in the Eastern Plaguelands. Surrounded by territory haunted by undead armies and the ruins of the old kingdom, it offered a place from which the order could coordinate allies. The chapel's significance lay not in controlling the entire east, but in standing against an enemy that had not been expelled. It became a recognizable center of hope in devastated lands.
The Third War had spread the plague through Lordaeron, brought down Stratholme, and left much of the north contested by the Scourge. With the old kingdom gone, the Argent Dawn's neutral organization helped preserve a continuing anti-undead effort. Light's Hope complemented other frontier stations and gave volunteers a destination inside the eastern provinces. Officers and quartermasters linked the chapel to the order's campaigns and to its wider network of supporters.
The original World of Warcraft starting state leaves the region dangerous. The chapel's presence should not be used to anticipate later campaigns or proclaim later victories already won. Its history at this point is that of an order holding a foothold amid a still unresolved catastrophe. The name expresses aspiration, but the threats beyond the chapel walls explain why that aspiration mattered.
