Quick Overview

The Argent Dawn emerged as a cross-faction force opposing the Scourge and other destructive powers. Its members served where the ruined kingdoms of Lordaeron could no longer defend their people. Unlike the Scarlet Crusade, the Dawn accepted assistance from a wider range of living and undead allies. Its outposts linked Tirisfal, the Western Plaguelands, and Light's Hope Chapel in the east.

Full History

The Scourge left Lordaeron without its royal government and filled once-settled lands with undead forces. Communities and military orders that survived could not simply restore the institutions of the old kingdom. The Argent Dawn devoted itself to opposing these threats and preserving knowledge of how the plague and the undead might be resisted. Its cause crossed the political boundary between the Alliance and the Horde.

The Dawn differed sharply from the Scarlet Crusade, another organization born from the destruction of Lordaeron. Where the Scarlet Crusade came to regard outsiders with suspicion, Argent members were prepared to recruit and cooperate more broadly. This difference mattered especially where travelers of many peoples passed through dangerous territory or sought help against the Scourge. The two orders might share an enemy without agreeing on whom to trust.

In the west the Dawn maintained contacts around the routes into the Plaguelands, while Light's Hope Chapel served as a vital eastern center of resistance. Argent Officer Garush and Hasana at the Bulwark represent the order's presence close to Forsaken lands. Its network of officers, quartermasters, and researchers gave structure to a campaign carried on by relatively small groups rather than a national army.

At the original World of Warcraft starting point, these people and outposts are active participants in the continuing fight for Lordaeron. Their offered missions demonstrate the threats that confront the order, without presuming which tasks individual adventurers have completed. The Dawn's history is the work of survivors trying to oppose a disaster that had consumed whole kingdoms.
