Quick Overview
The gnomes built a culture renowned for invention and engineering, long tied to the dwarves of Ironforge. Their machines and technical skill supported the Alliance in war and daily life. The loss of Gnomeregan to a disastrous internal crisis forced many gnomes into exile among their dwarven allies.
Full History
Gnomish workshops produced devices that could accomplish feats impossible for a conventional craftsman. Over time, that inventive tradition made the gnomes close partners of the dwarves. Their alliance joined mechanical ingenuity to the industrial strength of Ironforge, contributing equipment and specialized expertise to the defense of the northern kingdoms.
Gnomeregan became the great center of gnomish invention. Beneath its workshops lay an entire city whose inhabitants placed extraordinary confidence in machinery and technical solutions. Yet ingenuity alone could not protect it when trogg incursions and a failed attempt to drive them out plunged the city into disaster.
The catastrophe left many gnomes displaced. Survivors sought refuge with the dwarves, where their devices and craft continued to matter even as their homeland remained beyond their control. Their story is one of a people whose inventions changed the wider world, but who could not yet use them to reclaim the city they had lost.
