Terenas convenes leaders of the northern human kingdoms

King Terenas of Lordaeron gathered northern human leaders after Lothar warned that the Horde which destroyed Stormwind would continue its invasion. The council helped transform separate kingdoms into the Alliance of Lordaeron. This was a political answer to a military disaster, requiring rulers with different priorities to acknowledge a common danger.

Stormwind's surviving refugees had reached Lordaeron carrying accounts of a powerful enemy able to shatter a kingdom. Lothar argued that no northern throne could safely wait for the orcs to arrive at its own walls. Terenas used his position to bring leaders together, including those responsible for sea power, mountain defenses, magic, and the contested routes between kingdoms. The agreements would eventually extend beyond humans to dwarves, high elves, and gnomes.

The coalition was not free of disagreement. Gilneas was reluctant to join the initial appeal, and other rulers weighed their own rivalries and interests. What mattered was that enough leaders committed forces to create a defense larger than any one army. The council marks the origin of the wartime Alliance, which would reshape the political history of the Eastern Kingdoms.
