Quick Overview

Stormwind's fall turned Anduin Lothar from a kingdom's defender into the bearer of an urgent warning to the north. King Terenas welcomed the survivors and recognized that separate human realms could not safely face the Horde alone. Their cooperation brought frightened rulers into a military partnership that became the Alliance of Lordaeron. The refugees' experience gave the northern kingdoms the knowledge and resolve needed to resist the next invasion.

Full History

Anduin Lothar brought the surviving people of Stormwind north after the First War, carrying news that the orcish threat had not ended with the fall of one kingdom. King Terenas of Lordaeron offered refuge and took the warning seriously. Their encounter helped transform a displaced nation's plea into the foundation of a wider alliance. What Stormwind could not accomplish alone, the northern crowns would attempt together.

The refugees' experience made the danger concrete to rulers who had not yet faced Horde armies on their own lands. Lothar possessed military knowledge of the invading force and the resolve of a leader who had already lost his home. Terenas occupied a position from which different human kingdoms could be brought into common planning. The task was not simply to assemble soldiers but to persuade independent rulers that their separate defenses were insufficient.

The Alliance of Lordaeron emerged from this cooperation, with Lothar among its foremost commanders. Its later victory in the Second War would owe much to the warning preserved by the exiles. The chapter records a decisive change in political judgment: the fall of Stormwind ceased to be a distant southern tragedy and became the northern kingdoms' own shared danger.
