Full History
Anduin Lothar led survivors of ruined Stormwind north after the First War, bringing refugees toward Southshore and the protection of King Terenas of Lordaeron. The march carried the war's consequences into kingdoms that had not yet faced the orcish Horde's full strength. Their arrival helped persuade northern rulers that the fall of Stormwind was a warning, not a distant calamity.
Lothar was a veteran of Stormwind's defense and one of its most respected surviving commanders. He did not come merely seeking shelter for an army; the displaced people needed a home while he needed allies capable of resisting another invasion. Terenas's reception opened the way for discussions among human leaders who had long governed separate kingdoms and defended their own borders.
The refugee host became an important foundation for the Alliance of Lordaeron. Lothar's testimony gave the northern courts first-hand knowledge of the Horde, its numbers, and the devastation it could inflict. Southshore therefore occupies a place in the history of the Second War before the fleets and armies gathered: it was where the refugees of one lost kingdom helped summon a coalition to defend the others.
