Quick Overview
Southshore became a refuge for survivors who fled the destruction of Stormwind. Anduin Lothar led the exiles across the sea to Lordaeron, where King Terenas received them. Their arrival helped turn the fall of a southern kingdom into a warning that would unite the northern powers against the Horde.
Full History
The fall of Stormwind did not end the First War's consequences. Anduin Lothar gathered surviving people and led them north by sea, carrying the young Varian Wrynn and news of the Horde's conquest. Refugees reached the shores of Lordaeron near Southshore, far from the city and lands they had lost.
King Terenas Menethil offered protection and heard Lothar's warning. What had seemed to some northern rulers like a distant crisis now stood before them in the form of displaced families and soldiers. Stormwind's defeat demonstrated that any kingdom might face the same enemy alone unless alliances were formed.
The refugees' passage through Southshore helped set the stage for the Alliance of Lordaeron. Armies would be raised, old rivalries temporarily set aside, and the Second War carried back toward the south. Southshore's part in this history was not a great siege but the arrival of those who had survived one, and the appeal they brought for a united defense.
