Quick Overview

The Stonemaul ogres became allies of the New Horde during Rexxar’s campaign against Admiral Daelin Proudmoore. Their chief Kor’gall had ruled through cruelty until Rexxar defeated him in ritual combat. Later dragon attacks drove the clan from its village into Brackenwall, leaving its former home in ruins.

Full History

The Stonemaul clan was an ogre people whose fortunes in Kalimdor became tied to the founding of Durotar. Rexxar sought allies beyond the orcs and trolls, including the ogres established in Dustwallow Marsh. Yet the Stonemaul were not eager to enter another war for outsiders. Their chieftain Kor’gall held power through intimidation and had little reason to heed Rexxar’s appeal.

Rexxar entered their village and endured a trial of strength before challenging Kor’gall. By defeating the cruel chief and earning recognition among the ogres, he brought the Stonemaul into the coalition defending the Horde. Their participation mattered because it showed that Thrall’s new nation was built by negotiation and personal bonds as much as by inherited clan allegiance. After the conflict Rexxar departed and placed Mok’Morokk in charge of the ogres.

The settlement’s fortunes then turned again. Black dragonspawn attacked the ogres’ village, forcing survivors into Brackenwall and leaving Stonemaul Ruins behind. The displaced clan retained memories of its home, and not all were content with continued retreat. Its history crosses three connected subjects: the *Founding of Durotar* campaign, the uneasy politics of Horde allies, and the black dragons’ presence in Dustwallow. The displacement left a durable wound in the clan’s memory and a divided sense of where its people belonged.
