Quick Overview
Hakkar the Houndmaster was a demon of the Burning Legion who unleashed felhounds against Azeroth's defenders during the War of the Ancients. His place was among the invaders passing through the Well of Eternity, not the trolls who later worshipped a blood god with a similar name. The two Hakkars belong to different histories and must not be confused. The houndmaster represents the brutal demonic forces brought into ancient Kalimdor by Azshara's betrayal.
Full History
The Burning Legion entered the War of the Ancients not as a single army but as a host of demons with different weapons and masters. Hakkar the Houndmaster was among the terrifying figures unleashed through the Well of Eternity. His felhounds embodied the hunters and beasts the Legion turned against Azeroth's defenders.
Azshara's court had helped open the way for the invasion, believing its dealings with Sargeras would elevate the empire. Instead, night elves and their allies were forced to confront demons whose purpose was conquest and destruction. The houndmaster belongs to that original Legion invasion, when the struggle at the Well threatened all of Kalimdor.
Despite the shared name, this Hakkar is not Hakkar the Soulflayer, the blood god who later tempted the Gurubashi trolls and whose worshippers fled to the Sunken Temple. Their histories concern different beings and different crises. Confusing them turns a demonic episode of the War of the Ancients into an unrelated chapter of troll religion.
