Full History
Feathermoon Stronghold was established by the Sentinels in Feralas, maintaining a night-elven position near ancient ruins and the western coast of Kalimdor. It is associated with Shandris Feathermoon and the military legacy of the kaldorei.
The region’s old cities were devastated in the Sundering and later occupied by ogres, harpies and other powers. The Sentinels could not simply restore the former empire, but the stronghold allowed them to patrol the forests and contest threats to nearby sacred and historic sites.
The Sentinels inherited a difficult responsibility after the fall of the old night-elven empire. The Sundering had destroyed cities and scattered populations, while the later long vigil encouraged the kaldorei to guard surviving forests rather than rebuild the imperial order of Queen Azshara. Strongholds such as Feathermoon expressed that new political culture: mobile defenders, watchfulness and close ties between military command and the preservation of living landscapes. Feralas still contained traces of older Highborne architecture, making the frontier especially complicated. The Sentinels guarded not only contemporary settlements but a dangerous inheritance left in the ruins.
Shandris Feathermoon's leadership linked the local outpost to the larger history of Tyrande Whisperwind and the night-elven resistance. Under her command the defense of Feralas was not disconnected from the wars that had shaped all of Kalimdor. Ogres occupied the ancient city of Eldre'Thalas and its surroundings, harpies claimed some ruins, and other groups exploited the gaps left by the old empire. Feathermoon's people could not erase those powers by simply invoking ancestral ownership. They had to build alliances, secure coastal travel and continue patrolling places where one wrong expedition might awaken danger left from an older age. The fortress represents the disciplined effort to live beside ruins without repeating the civilization that created them.
Feathermoon represents enduring defense rather than the return of imperial glory. It anchors a new generation’s obligations amid the debris of a civilization whose surviving people chose a very different life after the War of the Ancients.
