Full History

Broxigar was an orc warrior burdened by memories of comrades lost in battle. He had survived when others had died, and the survival left him searching for an honorable end rather than comfort in the years ahead. His chance came in an astonishing form: a disturbance in time carried him, the human mage Rhonin and the dragon mage Krasus into ancient Kalimdor. They arrived as Queen Azshara's court was preparing to bring the Burning Legion into Azeroth through the Well of Eternity.

An orc had no natural place among the night elves of that age. The people he met had never fought the Horde, and his appearance inspired suspicion and fear. Yet Broxigar's purpose became clearer through combat. He opposed demons wherever they appeared, and his strength offered the defenders a kind of help their divided society urgently needed. The struggle gave him comrades who saw past the strangeness of his origin.

Among those allies were Malfurion Stormrage, Tyrande Whisperwind and the priestesses and soldiers resisting the Highborne. The demigod Cenarius fashioned an enchanted axe for Broxigar, a weapon strong enough for the battle against the Legion. Brox did not become an elf or forget his people. He chose to defend strangers because they faced the same annihilation that he had spent his life opposing.

As the war neared its decisive moment, the Legion sought to complete a gateway through which Sargeras himself could enter. The defenders could not hope to overpower the titan's army in a conventional battle. Broxigar crossed into the portal's demonic realm with his enchanted axe and stood against waves of attackers. His stand bought a moment that the defenders at the Well desperately needed.

Even Sargeras confronted the orc who had struck down so many of his servants. Broxigar managed to wound the Legion's master before he was killed. The wound distracted Sargeras during the struggle to seal the gateway, helping Malfurion and the others prevent his arrival. Brox did not return to celebrate the victory. His sacrifice vanished into the tumult of a war that would end by tearing ancient Kalimdor apart.

The orc's deed joined histories that otherwise seemed separated by impossibly long ages. A warrior of the later Horde gave his life beside the night elves against the first great invasion of the Legion. His example did not depend on the glory of conquest. It lay in the decision to spend his last strength defending a world whose people might never learn his name.
