Quick Overview
An orc who had survived the Horde's wars found himself fighting in the ancient conflict that first threatened Azeroth. Displaced into the War of the Ancients, Broxigar joined Rhonin, Krasus, and the kaldorei defenders against the Legion's gateway at the Well of Eternity. He died confronting Sargeras, buying precious time for those struggling to close the portal. His sacrifice became part of a victory that saved the world from immediate conquest but could not prevent the Sundering.
Full History
Broxigar came from an orcish world that had already endured the wars of the Horde, yet his final stand occurred thousands of years before those conflicts. Displaced into the War of the Ancients with Rhonin and Krasus, he fought beside the resistance against the Burning Legion. At the climax, he confronted Sargeras near the portal. He died in a struggle whose importance could not be measured by the survival of one warrior.
The Legion's leaders sought entry through the Well of Eternity, aided by Azshara and the Highborne. Kaldorei defenders attacked the magical workings supporting the gateway while their allies fought to withstand the invaders. Broxigar's presence joined an orc veteran to people who had never encountered the Horde of the future. His courage belonged to this extraordinary convergence of histories, not to a claim that he commanded the entire ancient army.
The novels remember his sacrifice as part of the resistance's desperate effort to stop Sargeras from entering Azeroth. The eventual collapse of the Well devastated the world despite that success. Broxigar did not live to see the consequences, but his death preserved a place for a later-born orc within the most ancient great war known to Azeroth. The episode is drawn from the original trilogy, not a later expansion's revised chronology.
