Quick Overview

Akama was the elder sage of a surviving draenei community in the shattered world of Outland during Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. His people had suffered generations of war against orcish and demonic forces and were threatened by fel orcs serving Magtheridon. When Illidan Stormrage's coalition came to their aid, Akama saw an opportunity to reclaim some freedom for his people. He lent the coalition his draenei fighters and their ability to move unseen, helping the assault on Magtheridon's Black Citadel.

Full History

Akama enters the Warcraft III story not as a servant of demons or a rival for power but as a leader trying to keep the last members of his community alive. Draenor's destruction left broken landscapes and scattered survivors, and Akama's draenei were among the peoples who endured the ensuing struggle for Outland. Magtheridon's orcish followers attacked the draenei and pushed their villages toward ruin. Akama's title, Elder Sage, reflects his role as an experienced spokesman for the people who survived those hardships.

Illidan Stormrage came to Outland with Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider's blood elves and Lady Vashj's naga. The new arrivals wanted to overthrow Magtheridon, whose demonic gateways continually supplied his armies with reinforcements. Their campaign brought them into contact with a draenei village besieged by fel orcs. The local inhabitants and their enemies already had a history of violence; Akama did not need to be persuaded that Magtheridon's defeat could serve his own people.

After Illidan's forces relieved the village, Akama pledged assistance in return for the chance to strike their oppressors. In the campaign's battles, his warriors could slip past enemy positions while the blood elves and naga confronted heavier resistance. Akama's troops helped bring down the defenses of the Black Citadel, enabling Illidan's coalition to reach the pit lord's chambers. This was an alliance of immediate needs: the draenei sought an end to persecution, while Illidan sought control of Outland.

The original campaign establishes Akama's courage, his people's plight, and his participation in Magtheridon's defeat. It does not require the later history of Outland to make those acts important. Akama is consequently part of Forever's pre-WoW historical record as a surviving draenei leader whose people resisted both fel orcs and demons, even though his Outland village is not a playable Forever location.
