Full History
Hearthglen lay within Lordaeron's northern lands, where village life once depended upon the security provided by the king's soldiers and the Knights of the Silver Hand. Tirion Fordring was closely associated with the region and served the Light there before his banishment followed a conflict between duty to his order and his promise to the orc Eitrigg. His story gave the settlement a place in a wider dispute over honor, mercy and the treatment of former enemies.
The Third War brought a more immediate danger. Plagued grain and the Cult of the Damned turned ordinary supply routes into weapons, and Prince Arthas fought to keep undead forces from overwhelming the town. Jaina Proudmoore and Uther's paladins were drawn into the widening crisis. Hearthglen's defenders could not mistake the plague for a distant rumor once the dead began to rise around their homes.
The Scourge's invasion destroyed the old stability of northern Lordaeron. Religious and military movements arose from the ruins, but they did not all follow the same principles that had guided the Silver Hand. Hearthglen's history joins the private moral choices of Tirion to the public destruction of a kingdom, revealing how both a man's oath and a people's security were tested by the same age of war.
