Quick Overview

Disillusioned by the old Horde and the loss of his sons, Eitrigg withdrew to a lonely tower near Hearthglen. A chance meeting with the human paladin Tirion Fordring became an unlikely bond when the orc saved his adversary's life. Tirion's attempt to return that mercy cost him his place among the Silver Hand, but it spared an honorable enemy. Eitrigg later joined Thrall's renewed Horde, carrying both the memory of its earlier failures and proof that honor could cross the boundaries of war.

Full History

Eitrigg had survived the wars of the old Horde and grown weary of the betrayals and rivalries that consumed its chieftains. After losing his sons and faith in that order, he withdrew from the fighting. He lived alone in a ruined tower near Hearthglen, far from the orc armies with which he had once marched.

There the paladin Tirion Fordring found him. They fought, but when the tower collapsed and Tirion fell helpless, Eitrigg saved the man who had been his enemy. The act challenged Tirion's conviction that every orc was without honor. He tried to protect Eitrigg, and the decision cost him his standing among the human knights. When the orc was captured, Tirion risked everything to prevent his execution.

The rescue drew them into the path of Thrall's emerging Horde. Eitrigg found an orcish leader seeking to restore shamanic traditions and a sense of honor that the earlier Horde had lost. He joined Thrall, while the bond between him and Tirion endured despite their peoples' wars. His history gave the new Horde something important: a veteran who knew both the strength of the orcs and the corruption from which they were trying to recover.
