Quick Overview
Taelan Fordring inherited his father's place at Mardenholde after Tirion Fordring was exiled. He later rose to command Scarlet Crusaders at Hearthglen, even as the order hardened into intolerance. The memory of his father remained a challenge to the loyalties he had accepted.
Full History
Taelan Fordring was still a child when his father, Tirion, was condemned for defending an orc whom he believed honorable. Tirion's exile separated father and son. Taelan grew into the position his father had lost and eventually held authority at Mardenholde in Hearthglen.
The destruction of Lordaeron transformed the military orders that had once served its people. The Scarlet Crusade arose from the surviving struggle against the undead, but suspicion and brutality increasingly marked its war. Taelan entered the Crusade and became a highlord, bound to the institution that had departed so far from the ideals of his father's Silver Hand.
Yet Taelan had not forgotten Tirion. The dream of serving beside his father remained with him, and Tirion continued to hope that his son could be guided away from the Crusade's fanaticism. Their estrangement gave the collapse of Lordaeron a personal dimension: the same war that divided nations also separated a knight from the son who carried his name.
