Full History
The centaur of central Kalimdor trace their origin to the union of Zaetar, a son of Cenarius, and the earth elemental Princess Theradras. Their birth became a family catastrophe when the children killed their father, leaving a legacy of violence that soon reached beyond Maraudon. The new people divided into rival clans under khans whose claims and quarrels made lasting unity difficult.
Across Desolace and the Barrens, centaur raids struck the wandering tauren again and again. The Shu'halo struggled to protect their families while seeking safe grazing grounds, and the repeated pressure forced them toward increasingly desperate migrations. The centaur clans fought one another as well, yet their rivalries did not spare the people living between their territories.
Thrall's arrival offered the tauren an unexpected ally. With orcish aid, Cairne Bloodhoof's people resisted the centaur and found a defensible home in Mulgore. The centaur remained divided and dangerous, but they no longer determined every movement of the tauren tribes. The struggle helped shape the political map of the New Horde as surely as the wars fought by its own orcs.
