Quick Overview

Rexxar's travels in Durotar drew him into the danger surrounding Cairne Bloodhoof's family. Baine, Cairne's son, had been taken captive while the new Horde faced growing threats. Rexxar helped recover him, strengthening the bond between the tauren chieftain and Thrall's allies. The rescue mattered because the security of the New Horde depended on trust among peoples who had only recently found a common home.

Full History

Cairne Bloodhoof had guided his people into a new homeland after years of centaur pressure and dangerous migrations. His friendship with Thrall helped establish the tauren alongside the New Horde, but peace in the Barrens and Mulgore remained uncertain. The safety of his son Baine was bound up with the future of the tribe itself.

During the events surrounding the founding of Durotar, Baine was taken captive. Cairne's distress drew Rexxar and his companions into the search. The Mok'Nathal wanderer had become one of Thrall's trusted champions through his service to the growing Horde, and the task offered a chance to aid an ally rather than simply answer another threat to Orgrimmar.

Rexxar helped rescue Baine and return him to Cairne. The act restored the chieftain's family and demonstrated that the alliance between orcs and tauren could endure beyond the immediate battles that had brought them together. Such loyalty mattered while Daelin Proudmoore's forces threatened Durotar and the Horde's different peoples were being called upon to defend one another.

The search for Baine was a smaller episode within the founding of a nation, but its consequences were personal. Cairne had risked much to protect his tribe, and the Horde now proved willing to protect those he loved in return.
