Full History
The Bloodhoof tribe carried the traditions of the tauren through years when centaur attacks threatened to scatter the people of Kalimdor. Cairne Bloodhoof became its most prominent leader because he could guide families through danger and hold them together despite the constant loss of safe hunting grounds. The tribe's story before Thunder Bluff was one of movement, survival, and loyalty to the Earth Mother.
Cairne encountered Thrall's orcs during the Third War, and cooperation against the centaur became the beginning of an enduring alliance. The Bloodhoof assisted the newcomers across Kalimdor and, with orcish help, drove enemies away from territory in Mulgore. The change offered a possibility the tribe had long lacked: a homeland where its people could settle without surrendering their ways.
Cairne's founding of Thunder Bluff brought other tauren tribes into a shared political center. The Bloodhoof remained influential, but unity did not remove disagreements with leaders such as Magatha Grimtotem, who wanted a different future for the tauren. Young members still underwent rites of hunting and strength, while elders taught the old beliefs. The tribe's success lay in joining those traditions to the defense of a permanent refuge and a cautious new place within the Horde.
