Quick Overview
Zephras Isle is the skybound homeland of the Skyborne, a new people introduced by WoW: Forever. Their ancestry is linked by Forever's account to Highborne rebels who escaped Eldre'Thalas after the War of the Ancients. Wind spirits sustained an island refuge in Skywall, but those benefactors have vanished and the pylons that anchor the homeland are failing. The Windshapers, High Order, and Al'Aketh now struggle over its uncertain future.
Full History
The oldest part of the tale reaches back to the War of the Ancients, when the power of Queen Azshara's Highborne and the arrival of the Burning Legion shattered the certainty of an empire. WoW: Forever adds a surviving offshoot to that history: rebels who left Eldre'Thalas and became the shen'dorei, the hidden people later known as the Skyborne. They did not establish a familiar coastal kingdom. Their journey carried them into the elemental plane of Skywall, where spirits of the air sheltered an island homeland and helped secure it against the vast winds beyond. This origin is specifically a Forever addition; it should not be attributed to the original pre-2007 chronicles of the Highborne.
For generations the island's apparent serenity depended on a fragile bargain. Arcane workmanship, standing stones and great pylons helped hold together the land, while the wind spirits whose aid made Zephras habitable remained vital to its balance. By the time adventurers awaken into the new story, the protectors have disappeared. Some anchors are weakening, portions of the island are darkening or falling, and old political disagreements have sharpened into a struggle over survival. Villages, orchards, highland paths and the sky-docks of Valanaar make the threat personal: losing the island means losing the houses and memories of a whole people.
The Windshapers look toward elemental traditions and the possibility of repairing what the winds once maintained; the High Order places its hopes in the arcane legacy of the ancestors. The disagreement also shapes how players enter the Horde or Alliance world. A Skyborne who follows the Windshapers may train as a shaman among Horde allies, while one drawn toward the High Order may cultivate arcane magic with the Alliance. Those alignments should not be mistaken for an ancient faction split documented in Warcraft III.
Zephras Isle deserves its own history because it offers a complete starting landscape instead of merely a racial biography. Shrines, ruins, caverns and the Valanaar Skydocks are places where its central crisis becomes visible. The full names of local quest-givers, the sequence of encounters, and the fate of the missing wind spirits remain subject to launch verification.
