Quick Overview

Thelsamar developed in Loch Modan under the protection of the Bronzebeard dwarves, whose hold on Ironforge survived the War of the Three Hammers. Loch Modan connected the mountain capital with the wider eastern lands and the approaches to the Wetlands. Thelsamar's history therefore reflects the lesser-known labor of keeping a divided kingdom connected after one civil war and through another invasion that threatened everyone who lived beyond Ironforge's gates.

Full History

Thelsamar developed in Loch Modan under the protection of the Bronzebeard dwarves, whose hold on Ironforge survived the War of the Three Hammers. After that civil war, the dwarf clans followed separate paths: the Wildhammers moved east, the Dark Irons became tied to Blackrock Mountain, and the Bronzebeards maintained the central kingdom of Khaz Modan. Settlements beyond Ironforge helped bind its roads and communities together.

Loch Modan connected the mountain capital with the wider eastern lands and the approaches to the Wetlands. Commerce and travel required places where supplies and messages could move across difficult country. Thelsamar's growth belonged to that need, linking rural holdings and trade with the stronghold the Bronzebeards had defended through war.

The Second War gave those connections new importance. Orcish armies pressed into Khaz Modan, threatening the passes and roads by which the dwarves supported their Alliance allies. Thelsamar's history therefore reflects the lesser-known labor of keeping a divided kingdom connected after one civil war and through another invasion that threatened everyone who lived beyond Ironforge's gates.
