His story is one of a defeated dynasty using banditry and private force in place of lawful sovereignty.
Full History
As a member of Alterac’s royal house, Aliden was born into a kingdom that stood among the Alliance of Lordaeron. During the Second War his father Aiden chose betrayal, seeking accommodation with the Horde rather than honoring the Alliance. The resulting disgrace discredited the monarchy and left the kingdom vulnerable to dissolution. Aliden’s own public role belongs primarily to the years after this fall, when a noble title alone could no longer secure the power that generations had expected.
The Syndicate drew strength from nobles who refused to abandon their claims. Aliden took a leading position among them, seeking to restore Alterac’s fortunes through armed men, hidden encampments, and seizures of territory. The organization’s reach extended beyond the old kingdom into Hillsbrad and the divided holdings of Stromgarde. Its followers attacked travelers and opposed both the Horde and those Alliance governments that had condemned the former Alterac court.
Although Aliden could claim dynastic continuity, the methods of his followers made the Syndicate resemble an insurgent criminal organization more than a recognized successor government. Its enemies included Ravenholdt, a secretive league of rogues whose own operations flourished in the hills. Aliden thus connects the political story of a treasonous monarchy to the daily danger of Alterac’s roads. His contest for legitimacy remained a political struggle conducted from camps and fortresses rather than a recognized capital.
