Quick Overview

Relations between the Bronzebeard and Wildhammer clans survived the War of the Three Hammers, despite their separate homelands. Trade routes and the Thandol Span helped reconnect the dwarves across the divided Eastern Kingdoms. Their cooperation did not erase the differences that exile and war had created.

Full History

The Wildhammers lost more than a fortress when Grim Batol was corrupted in the final struggles against the Dark Iron clan. They abandoned the underground stronghold and eventually made a new life in the heights of the Hinterlands, where gryphons and open skies suited them better than the halls they had left behind. The Bronzebeards remained in Ironforge, rebuilding their political and military strength beneath the mountain.

The two clans retained a memory of their shared origin and the danger they had overcome together. Trade and communication gradually resumed. The Thandol Span crossed the great divide between Khaz Modan and the northern lands, allowing travelers and goods to move between regions otherwise separated by difficult terrain and old hostilities.

When war returned with the arrival of the Horde, the dwarven peoples could still serve a common cause without becoming one people again. Bronzebeard engineers and Wildhammer gryphon riders brought different skills to the Alliance. Their uneasy reconnection survived precisely because it did not demand that either clan abandon its own way of life.
