Full History

Hamuul Runetotem carried Malfurion Stormrage's druidic teachings into Thunder Bluff after the defeat of the Burning Legion. He became an honored member of the Cenarion Circle, an order long dominated by night elves. The tauren elder's acceptance was a notable bridge between the new Horde and the guardians of Kalimdor's natural balance. It also gave tauren students a teacher within their own society.

The Cenarion Circle did not arise from the Horde's founding. Its older traditions belonged to the night elves and to the worship and protection of nature associated with Cenarius. Hamuul's instruction under Malfurion introduced him to that discipline during a war in which old enemies had to cooperate against the Legion. The Circle's willingness to recognize a tauren druid demonstrated that its obligations to the natural world could extend beyond one people or political alliance.

Hamuul remained a supporter of Cairne Bloodhoof and served as Thunder Bluff's elder druid. Original-era history identifies him as the first tauren practitioner of this renewed art in almost twenty generations, not as proof of a continuously documented institutional lineage. His teaching helped the tauren develop a new religious and practical vocation while retaining their attachment to the Earth Mother. The Circle offered a meeting place for such traditions even as Horde and Alliance tensions persisted elsewhere.
