Full History
Prince Kael'thas accepted help from Lady Vashj's naga while his blood elves fought Scourge forces in Lordaeron. The alliance solved an immediate military problem but brought the prince into conflict with Grand Marshal Garithos. A desperate decision in the field became the turning point in the blood elves' relationship with the remnant human command.
Kael's people had survived the destruction of Quel'Thalas and the loss of the Sunwell, leaving them weakened and in need of allies. Garithos treated them with hostility despite relying on their service against the undead. When Vashj offered assistance, Kael had to choose between refusing aid for political reasons and safeguarding his soldiers. His acceptance of the naga's support exposed the fragility of an alliance built on prejudice and necessity rather than mutual trust.
Garithos responded by treating the cooperation as treachery, leading to the blood elves' imprisonment. Vashj would then help Kael escape and reach Illidan in the shattered remains of Draenor. The episode is therefore more than an improvised battlefield alliance: it explains how the survivors of Quel'Thalas were pushed away from one set of companions and toward another whose plans would change their future.
