Quick Overview

Sen'jin Village became the Darkspear trolls' mainland refuge when their first home on the Echo Isles was seized by Zalazane's dark magic. The settlement honored Sen'jin, the chieftain who died during the tribe's flight from its earlier islands. Under Vol'jin, the remaining free Darkspear held to their alliance with Thrall's Horde while facing the loss of kin still enslaved offshore. The village represented survival and continuity rather than the end of the tribe's exile.

Full History

The Darkspear trolls had already lost one homeland before they settled on the shores of Durotar. When Thrall encountered Sen'jin's people during the voyage to Kalimdor, the tribe was endangered by enemies it could not face alone. Sen'jin died, and his son Vol'jin took responsibility for the survivors. Their alliance with the New Horde opened a path to safety and a new beginning beside the orcs.

Thrall gave the Darkspear a place among his people, and the trolls settled the Echo Isles off Durotar's southern coast. The refuge was brief. A witch doctor named Zalazane turned against the tribe, using dark magic to strip many Darkspear of their free will. Each person he captured strengthened his grip on the islands, while the number who remained free dwindled.

Vol'jin ordered a retreat rather than risk losing the entire tribe. The survivors established Sen'jin Village on the mainland, naming it for the leader whose death had marked their earlier flight. Master Gadrin and other members of the community tended their people and maintained the struggle for the islands across the water. The loss was not merely territorial: relatives and companions remained in Zalazane's control.

Sen'jin Village thus stood at the meeting point of two stories. It was a place the New Horde's alliance made possible, and a reminder that the Darkspear were still fighting to protect their own identity. Their survival depended on bonds with the orcs, but their unfinished struggle was theirs alone.
