Zalazane seizes control of some tribe members; Vol’jin leads the remaining free Darkspear to the mainland. Sen’jin Village becomes the refuge; the Echo Isles conflict remains unresolved at the story cutoff. The original-era Troll Compendium identifies a witch doctor, Zalazane, who stripped numerous Darkspear trolls of free will and amassed followers on the Echo Isles. Vol’jin commands the remaining free Darkspears to leave the Echo Isles, and they establish Sen’jin Village on Durotar’s coast.
The division under Zalazane shows why the Darkspear cannot be described merely as loyal subjects of the old Gurubashi Empire. Their chiefs, spiritual specialists, and new Horde allies make decisions under immediate pressures in Durotar. Their tribal beliefs belong to a living community shaped by displacement, not a fixed ritual inherited unchanged from ancient Zandalar.
