Full History
The Echo Isles became a Darkspear home after the tribe escaped its earlier island refuge and followed Thrall to Kalimdor. Vol'jin's people established themselves near Durotar, close to the orcs who had helped them survive. The settlement promised stability after years of displacement. Yet the islands would soon become another contested home rather than an uncontested reward for the tribe's alliance.
The Darkspear's migrations reached back to their departure from Stranglethorn, where the collapse and conflicts of Gurubashi power had placed smaller groups in danger. Their journey with Thrall brought them into a new political community made from peoples seeking refuge and freedom. The Echo Isles offered familiar coastal conditions, allowing the tribe to preserve its identity while participating in the Horde. The new location also exposed them to threats that did not share their history or loyalties.
Zalazane's dark magic eventually divided the tribe and forced free Darkspear survivors onto the mainland. Sen'jin Village arose from that withdrawal. The original Troll Compendium supplies the broad sequence without proving later reconquests already occurred. The Echo Isles remain a symbol of home sought, gained, and contested at the opening of World of Warcraft.
