Full History
Stromgarde's soldiers descended from one of the oldest human powers, the kingdom that had grown around the city of Strom. Under Thoras Trollbane they fought as a major ally during the Second War. The survival of that military tradition did not, however, prevent the kingdom's later decline.
After the great wars, Stromgarde was beset by internal enemies and foreign opportunists. Syndicate forces and ogres helped wrest control of its lands, and the remnants of the kingdom's defenders were pushed out of their own capital. Survivors regrouped at Refuge Pointe, a stronghold from which they could resist the loss of Arathi rather than accept the dissolution of their homeland.
The refuge was not another kingdom founded in safety. It existed because the old one had been fractured and because its soldiers refused to let the claim to Stromgarde disappear. The continuing contest for the highlands brought them into conflict with enemies both old and new, making Refuge Pointe a testament to stubborn survival rather than a monument to victory.
