Quick Overview
Jangolode began as a working mine serving Stormwind’s economy. After the kingdom denied payment to its builders, Edwin VanCleef transformed the Stonemasons’ grievance into the Defias Brotherhood’s rebellion. The mine became one of the places where Westfall’s productive labor and infrastructure were turned against the crown.
Full History
Westfall once supplied Stormwind with food, timber, and mineral wealth. The Jangolode Mine belonged to that ordinary network of work and exchange, with tunnels dug to extract resources from the hills. Its fate changed when the kingdom's reconstruction brought poverty and resentment instead of security to many of the laborers who had helped rebuild the capital.
The Stonemasons' Guild had been denied payment for its work on Stormwind. Edwin VanCleef gathered embittered workers into the Defias Brotherhood, which spread from urban grievance into Westfall's farms, roads, and mines. Jangolode offered the Brotherhood an enclosed place to gather men and supplies beyond the direct reach of the crown. The mine became another piece of the countryside from which the Defias could threaten the kingdom that had rejected them.
As the Brotherhood consolidated power in Westfall, its activity connected isolated hideouts with larger operations around Moonbrook and the Deadmines. Jangolode's change of purpose illustrates how an economic dispute turned into an armed rebellion. The kingdom had once depended on miners and craftsmen to rebuild its prosperity; some of those same working communities became the ground on which resistance to Stormwind took root.
