Quick Overview

Agamaggan, the great boar demigod, fought the Burning Legion during the War of the Ancients. He fell in the struggle, but his death became part of the history of the Barrens. The quilboar revere him as their ancestor and hold the great thorn-covered Razorfen sacred. His story links the ancient resistance to the Legion with the beliefs and conflicts of later Kalimdor peoples.

Full History

When the Burning Legion invaded ancient Kalimdor, resistance came from more than the night elves. Cenarius and other defenders called upon powerful guardians of the natural world to oppose the demons. Among them was Agamaggan, a mighty boar demigod whose strength made him a terrible enemy of the invaders. His battle belonged to the desperate effort to prevent the Legion from reducing Azeroth to a world under its control.

Agamaggan fell during that war. The memory of his sacrifice endured in the lands that would become the Barrens, where the quilboar connected the great masses of thorny growth to his spilled blood and resting place. They treated the Razorfen as sacred ground. The thorn-covered places were not merely fortifications or shelter: to the quilboar they were a living inheritance from the being they believed had given rise to their people.

Generations later, their shamans and tribes still invoked Agamaggan's power while defending territories they considered ancestral. Conflicts with newcomers could therefore become struggles over more than grazing land or borders. Behind the quilboar's fierce attachment to the Razorfen stood a memory of the ancient war, when a guardian of the wild had given his life against the Legion. The story of Agamaggan survived not in a throne or dynasty, but in the sacred landscape and traditions of his descendants.
