Quick Overview
Thrall's escape from human captivity began the transformation of the defeated orcs into a new political and spiritual people. He sought the Frostwolves, learned the traditions suppressed by warlock rule, and united with Grom Hellscream and Orgrim Doomhammer to free the internment camps. Doomhammer's death passed leadership to the young son of Durotan. The new warchief inherited a broken Horde but chose liberation and shamanic renewal over the old campaign of conquest.
Full History
Thrall grew up apart from his people, held in human captivity without a full account of his parents or the clan from which he came. His escape led him toward the Warsong, the Frostwolves, and the buried traditions of the orcs. The discovery changed his ambitions from personal freedom to the liberation of a captive generation. Under him, the Horde began to become something other than the army that had invaded Stormwind.
The internment camps held survivors of the Second War, many weakened by hopelessness and the consequences of demonic enslavement. Thrall's meetings with Grom Hellscream and the Frostwolves brought him knowledge of orcish customs and shamanism that Gul'dan's warlocks had obscured. Orgrim Doomhammer, a veteran of the old Horde, joined the liberation effort. His death during the campaigns passed both responsibility and an older warrior's authority to Thrall.
Camp after camp was freed as the movement gathered strength. The result was not a simple restoration of the conquering Horde but a new coalition seeking dignity and a homeland beyond the human kingdoms. Thrall's lineage as Durotan's son mattered, yet his choices mattered more: he forged a future from the memories of resistance, captivity, and the failures of the first two wars.
