Full History
The Alliance of Lordaeron emerged when the northern human kingdoms understood the danger revealed by Stormwind's destruction. Under commanders such as Anduin Lothar and Turalyon, allied armies resisted the Horde's push into the north. Elves, dwarves, and other partners contributed to the struggle. Their eventual victory ended the Second War, but not every division within or between its members.
King Terenas helped bring the rulers together after refugees described Stormwind's fall. The Alliance had to coordinate armies whose leaders previously answered to separate crowns and interests. The Horde threatened ports, cities, and forests, while internal struggles among the orc clans changed the course of its campaigns. Orgrim Doomhammer's forces suffered decisive reversals, and the survivors of the invasion faced captivity rather than a return to the world they had left.
The Second War's conclusion created internment camps and new political problems across the human kingdoms. Some rulers would later question the costs of sustaining their alliance and guarding the captives. The victory did not produce permanent unity, and the Horde's defeat did not erase its people. Those unresolved consequences gave the next generation its own conflicts long before the Scourge and Legion returned.
