Quick Overview
The Frostmane trolls and burrowing troggs threatened the dwarven communities of Dun Morogh. Their attacks pressed Ironforge's defenders to secure settlements and roads close to the mountain kingdom. The struggle showed that dangers to the Bronzebeards did not always come from distant wars.
Full History
The dwarves of Ironforge had endured the Horde's advance and retained their mountain stronghold, yet the lands immediately around them were not peaceful. Frostmane trolls occupied parts of Dun Morogh and fought the dwarves for control of nearby valleys. Troggs, aggressive creatures emerging from below ground, posed another danger to those living and working near the mountain's approaches.
Coldridge Valley was especially vulnerable because the dwarves there relied upon local guards and modest settlements rather than the full strength of Ironforge's walls. Fighting among the snowbound passes placed young defenders and miners in danger. These were not battles over the fate of kingdoms, but they could decide whether ordinary communities endured.
Further east, Loch Modan faced its own problems as troggs threatened the region around the dwarven settlements. The connected pressure in both lands forced the Bronzebeards to defend their heartland from within as well as without. The kingdom's survival in the great wars had not ended the daily struggle to hold the mountains.
