Full History

The Revantusk forest trolls maintained a distinctive relationship with the Horde after many of their northern kin rejected the defeated orcish armies. Their leaders remembered the old wartime connection and reached an understanding with Thrall's new coalition. The agreement promised mutual aid rather than unconditional submission. In the original Troll Compendium, the tribe is friendly to the Horde without being described as a formal member.

The Amani's wider alliance with Orgrim Doomhammer had been shaped by opposition to the high elves, whose kingdom occupied lands claimed by forest trolls. When that campaign failed, many tribes withdrew from ties to the orcs. The Revantusk did not make the same complete break. Their position demonstrated that troll political identity varied from tribe to tribe and that the New Horde could maintain relationships other than full incorporation.

The distinction matters at the opening World of Warcraft world, where political boundaries among troll peoples remain complicated. The Revantusk pact should not be rewritten as a total merger, nor used to suggest that all forest trolls welcomed Thrall. Their history records a choice to preserve cooperation amid the aftermath of defeat, while retaining their own tribal standing.
